Adopt A Totoro.

I'm a terrible hoarder.

I've been keeping this guy in the drawer
and he hasn't seen the light of day.
Not cause I don't like him,
I just tend to wear the same few pieces
over and over again.

Time to give this Chibi Totoro
to a good home.

Say
Mummy, can we get the Chibi,
please please pleeease??
and Bag It!

Don't forget the puppy dog eyes.

How to Fill A Heartless Heart.

Cindy asked me for a heart
and I made her a heartless one.

Oops.

So how do you
fill a heartless heart?

Words.
Seem a bit empty.

Flowers.
Are dead to the heartless.

Money.
Fails to fill.

Other hearts.
Less heartless.
But there's still a gap.

A good cry.
Sometimes that's all a heart needs
to become whole again.

They're Here.

A Space Invaders Special
for one of the biggest kids I know.

Although, I don't really know
what to do with this.
Did you want me to iron them?

Doubt you want a necklace :)

Think they'd look awesome
in mini black frames on the wall.

Dead Breath.

Deadlines.

Dead blog.

Dead tired.

Dead bunny, anyone?

Inspired by this YouTube video
Kat sent me last week.
Awakens violent tendencies
to squeeze the eyeballs outta those fur balls.

Scream a bloodthirsty
Bye-bye Bunny!!!!!!
and Bag This Bead!

You've Got Mail.

allowed me to reacquaint myself
with the beauty of snail mail.

Sealing the envelope - feels so once and for all.
Sticking the stamps on - praying they won't fall off.
Shoving the parcel into the post box -
there, you've lost all control.

And then there's the waiting.

There's something almost romantic about the whole thing.
(Is that why housewives have affairs with the mailman?)

Suddenly e-mails seem really boring.

Is it any wonder how
the faster time flies?

If I've learnt anything from all this,
it's if we all slowed down just a little,
we just might live longer.

Pass The Time, Please.

Now I wonder if this Pegboard Game
can speed it up a little:

How many words in the word POST?

Waiting for my parcels to reach Aneesah and Taka
is like waiting for the loading bar to reach 100%.
And you suspect the connection's hung.
But you don't dare refresh the page,
because it's already at 81%.

I Sent You A Stinker.

Dear Aneesah and Taka,
Finally, some breathing space!
Sorry for the delay in the post department.
It's been hard to find time to work on Bead Breath.

I finally got around to packing Ele and Octopaul.
Here they are, snug as bugs.

I was really paranoid they'd get destroyed in the mail
so I put them in hard plastic boxes,
and padded the insides with
bubble wrap, foam, and tissue.

Yes, the ribbons serve a functional purpose too.
They keep the boxes shut tight!

I'm just really worried I'll end up sending Ele to Austria
and Octopaul to Canterbury instead!
Fingers crossed I got it right.
I only checked about 1,679 times.

See Ya Later, Ele!
Auf Wiedersehen, Paul!

Snap Happy.

I'm mad in love with polaroid cameras
but could never have one because the film
was too expensive.

Glad to see old-school cameras making a comeback!
Hopefully, I'll get my grubby hands on an instant cam soon.

Have included a tiny hole in this design
so you can peep through the viewfinder!

This design is based on the lovely Holga.
Entirely plastic. And stunning in red.

Also check out the awesome 3D version!

Yeah my Holga's 3D too.
Well the lens is anyway, hehe.

Have a Holga!
Say
Snap!
Oh crap!
I blinked!
first
and Bag This Bead!

What other lomography-inspired cameras
would you like to see?

Chain Reaction.

Traffic jam.

Tailgating.

Three-car pile-up.

I wish cars weren't invented so that
we could ride horses to work.

Either way, both are infinitely more fun

Octopaul.

Check out the Wikipedia article on Paul the Octopus.
It's hilarious! Includes his illustrious

 May his talented tentacles
never cease to amaze!

And they shan't!
If he makes any of these
grrreat career moves:

Paul the Octopurse.
He is, after all, the best bet
for your money.

Paul the Moptopus.
Leaves your floor predictably clean
every time!

Paul the Porktopus.
Posing as a pig strangely and greatly
increases his odds of survival,
what with all the death threats
and octopus recipes floating about.

*

Bid for Paul!
Say this as fast as you can:
Paul Pizza
Paul Pasta
Paul Paella
Paul Pad Thai
Paul Pork Pie
Paul Porridge
Paul Popcorn
Paul Pudding
Paul Pancakes
Paul Papadom

Extra points if you can cook up
more P-P-Paul recipes!

World Cup Safari: Predator vs. Prey.

Fig 1. Uruguay is prey.
Although they put up quite a fight.

Fig 2. Netherlands, the bloodthirsty predator,
is disgusted by the taste of grass.

Ok, I cheated a little in this World Cup Safari post.
But there's no way I could've pulled off a wildebeest!
And I didn't want to make another lion.

This funny little watchamacallit
is whatever you want it to be!

Germany Gives it to Argentina in the Butt.

Slaughter on the World Cup Safari.
4-0, woot!

Germany's incredible gameplay
made Argentina look
clumsy, slow,
and rather blue.

Germany is so owning right now,
they should call it
Ze Vorld Cup.

On a side note.
Bag a Bead is back!
Anybody want an Ele?

Say it loud and say it first:
Preeeet!
This Ele belongs to me!

Why England Lost To Germany.

Hehe.
(Please don't punch me.)

But seriously though,
the Germans made
the Three Lions look like...
kittens.

A kitty can't change its meyowr.

Sweet!

There's nothing quite as fly
as a sugar high.

Accidentally in Love.

Something to help you
Bead the Blues
this Monday morning.

This design is up for grabs!

Accidentally made these lovebirds
while trying to make a grumpy blue bird.

Put this on a short chain with a snap clasp.

Must confess I've worn it a couple of times
to test the strength of the design -
and it's all good!

Be the first to say
Get in Line! It's Mine!
Raaawwrrr!
and it's yours!

Out of Breath.

My full-time job's been
working me overtime,
forcing me to suppress my barf reflex.

To those of you who're reading this at work (slackers),
here's something to help you look busy:

How many words can you make
using the letters above?

And no cheating.

Bead Breath in Spanish!

A bit of shameless self-advertising, forgive me.

Studio Ghibli Weblog featured my Totoro designs
a couple of days ago, and I'm so amused!
The post is entirely in Spanish,
and OJM kindly sent me this hilarious Babel Fish translation.

0!

Watching Toy Story 3 today!
The ratings are through the roof!

Whoever else is going to the movies, remember:
it's rude to talk with your mouth full
so be sure to stuff it with food!

I watched Robin Hood a couple of weeks ago
and the girl next to me not only forgot her snack,
she also forgot to shut up.

I wanted to give her a knuckle sandwich.

1...

Slinky is snakey.

Too many gummy snakes
can give one a curiously strong desire
to chase one's tail.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

2...

 Hamm is money hungry.

The reason why loose change never made it
as a very popular movie snack is that
it tends to give one the runs.

Monday, June 14, 2010

3...

 Etch-A-Sketch's palette is set on
snacks that are black.
And burnt toast.

Sunday, June 13, 2010

4...

Mr. Potato Head goes cannibalistic.

If you were a toy,
what would your movie snack be?

Toy Story 3 in 5...

Rex sneaks a snack.

(Ok so it's a Rex Fail.
But I like how childish it looks.)

It's fun to guess what each toy's
preferred movie snack would be.
In this case, it's the other theatre patrons.

For The Birds.

Inspired by the best Pixar short ever.

As much as I can't wait to watch Toy Story 3,
I'm really looking forward to seeing the new short.
Apparently it's called "Day and Night".
